Attorneys Benjamin Chew and Camille Vasquez for Johnny Depp have responded to Amber Heard’s statement announcing the resolution of her legal dispute with her ex-husband.
AFP reports that Johnny Depp and Amber Heard have reached a settlement in their contentious defamation lawsuit, in which the actress agreed to pay her ex-husband $1 million in retaliation for allegations that he physically mistreated her.
Heard announced on Instagram that she was giving up her appeal against the jury’s $10 million verdict because she “just cannot go through” another trial.
“I have made a very tough choice to settle the slander action,” she added after giving it much thought.
A Virginia jury convicted Depp and the other defendants guilty in a lawsuit that involved countersuits.
